About PG Powers

PG Powers is one of Ireland’s original flooring distributors with a reputation for innovation, style and quality.

PG Powers was established by Paddy Power just after World War Two, supplying quality carpets to the Irish market. The company was bought some years later by the Ferrier Pollock Group however when they went into receivership, Paddy was able to buy the company back. Under Paddy’s leadership, the company grew from strength to strength; it was even the first company in Ireland to bring vinyl flooring from America, leading the market in innovation and style.

By the 1980’s, PG Powers operated out of a warehouse on lower Ballymount Road in Dublin, distributing carpets, vinyl, curtain rails and curtain poles. With specialist expertise in bespoke curtain rails, the company was sought after for curtain rails for bay windows and hospital cubicles, bending and shaping them to specifications and fully cording them in the warehouse.

As the business expanded, it took additional warehousing space at the Robinhood Industrial Estate to store carpets and wooden flooring, followed by another warehouse at the Bluebell Industrial Estate when the business moved into fabrics. Here, PG Powers stored fabrics and also the machinery and equipment for measuring and cutting the fabrics according to customer specifications. As the company grew larger again, it rented Smurfits Warehouse in Cherry Orchard Industrial Estate where it stocked carpet, curtain rails, fabric and wood flooring.

The company’s strong growth prompted Paddy to bring all PG Powers stock and equipment under one roof. He subsequently sold the Ballymount warehouse and purchased a larger warehouse on Killeen Road to operate as the central store and distribution centre for the company. At this time, Paddy also announced his retirement, and that Mike Moffatt, a long-term PG Powers employee, had bought the company.

Under Mike’s new leadership, the curtain rail component of the business was sold and PG Powers sharpened its focus on flooring solutions. In 2013, the company was acquired by Furlong Flooring, Europe’s largest manufacturing distributor of quality carpets, and moved back to Ballymount to the Furlong distribution centre on the M50.

Today, PG Powers remains one of Ireland’s most recognised flooring solutions providers with a quality and stylish range of collections to suit any room or use. As part of the Furling Flooring Group, PG Powers is also proud to offer its customers access to an easy-to-use online ordering system, in-depth training and product support, reliable supply and delivery services, and an unmatched commitment to customer service.
